Game of Thrones fans may have to wait until 2019 for final season
Game of Thrones fans have had a difficult few weeks. After last month's announcement that the HBO show's final serious would be the shortest yet, this week it transpired that the series might not arrive for another two years.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, HBO's president of programming Casey Bloys said that the the eighth series of the fantasy drama might not appear until 2019, suggesting that the lengthy writing process for showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss could hold up production.
"By the time the final season airs, Dan and David will have been at this for 12 years," Bloys said, "They have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing."
