Scientists Talk Privately About Creating a Synthetic Human Genome (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/14/science/synthetic-human-genome.html?_r=0)

...it was discussed at a closed-door meeting on Tuesday at Harvard Medical School in Boston. The nearly 150 attendees were told not to contact the news media or to post on Twitter during the meeting...

The primary goal of HGP-write is to reduce the costs of engineering and testing large (0.1 to 100 billion base pairs) genomes in cell lines by over 1000-fold within 10 years. This will include whole-genome engineering of human cell lines and other organisms of agricultural and public health significance, or those needed to interpret human biological functions—i.e., gene regulation, genetic diseases, and evolutionary processes. l'uomo del futuro sara' geneticamente upgradato alla versione 2, ma continuera' a farsi le scarpe l'uno con l'altro come la versione 1 :bua:

Right now, it prints proteins. In the far future, it could print human babies on Mars.
