There have been some freaky events connected with the movie that were reported recently, including a man in India who died after experiencing chest pains while watching the movie — and then disappeared.
The movie, which centers on an infamous poltergeist case taken on by the ghostbusting Warrens in the ‘70s, is full of jumpy scares, demonic possessions, and dark, lingering, creepy-crawly nighttime scenes. As a the 65-year-old man in India was watching the film, he passed out after experiencing chest pains during the climax of the movie and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. But then, this is where things get creepy: Apparently, the man’s corpse and the person in charge of transporting it have vanished, the Telegraph reports. The disappearance has sparked a wave of social media-driven paranormal panic.
And then there's this: A man in Singapore reported finding a cross drawn on a mirror in his hotel room shortly after seeing the movie, so he and his friend changed rooms. But when they stopped back in to grab their stuff, the cross was gone. Hmmm ...
