Being smoking hot is maybe half genes and half willpower (exercise, diet, appearance/clothing). But.. the "step 1, be attractive" meme that many hides behind is a cop out. There are so many things you can do as a guy to be more attractive, regardless of genes. If some geeks approached flirting and being attractive the same way they approach computer games (prepare, train, learn from failure, try again, understand weaknesses and strengths and development needs, don't give up), they would be Casanovas. Who thinks they are born to be good at UT without any training, strategy, multiple failures that you learn from and improve, etc.
