I recommend reading this*book*about sensible software, if you want to know why Sensible Soccer was never made for c64. It is because you can't.
It's not just the graphics and how many features the game has. It's what is happening "under the hood" - LOTS of programming went into the player control in this game, and whether you liked the result or not, the C64 just simply doesn't have enough memory to handle all this. Most of it is stuff which you won't notice unless it's stripped away. Microprose soccer really was the best Sensible Software could do with C64.

Hi all. I've just completed self-publishing my first book, about Atari's arcade game, Missile Command. Many ex-Atari Coin-Op personnel helped me with my research for the project over the past few years, answering endless questions and providing tidbits of information and pictures - much of which has never been published before.
The good news? There's no waiting around for a Kickstarter!
This is not a glossy coffee-table style book full of pictures and not much detail. It is a quality, researched hardback: 77,000 words, 257 pages with 57 colour images that complement the dialogue. It details the development of the game, from Gene Lipkin's initial spark of an idea, right through to its final release in the summer of 1980. You can also learn about my own journey with the game and the fun and games involved in becoming the Guinness World Record holder.
So if you're interested in a solid read about videogames and Atari history, this is for you.
I can ship to the USA, EU or UK (other locations by request). To order, go here:
www.missilecommander.com
That said, if you are USA-based, you can jump in on an early group shipping deal that I'm running which reduces the final cost. I'm not making a huge buck here, just very keen to get the book in the hands of as many relevant people as possible. Books will ship to the US on 20th November, and should take no more than 10 days to arrive on your doorstep.

I'll sign every copy for this initial print run.
Thank you!
