The three black dots are at the top of her head are light sensors. Because they are arranged in a triangle she can not only detect when something is coming toward her, but she can triangulate the direction that the object is coming from. Handy if you are trying to avoid predators (she has to watch out for birds) or a pesky photographer. The signals from the sensors are "hot wired" to her brain and she can detect speed and direction of the threat and move to avoid it rapidly. Many insects have those three light sensors (bees, flies, etc.) and they all work the same way -and they are the reason why you can't cast a shadow over a critter without scaring it off...
