comunque magari si ripete domenica prossima
Arkadiusz Milik’s agent David Pantak, spoke to Polish media about his client’s move to Napoli. Here are bits of the interview as translated by CN24:
Milik had been under observation by Napoli since November 2015. He was watched by scouts, the director and even the coach. His penalties taken at Euro 2016 were an important factor that demonstrated his ability to handle pressure. Napoli noticed that Arkadiusz works hard and never gives up. He has been like that throughout his career. Sarri was also impressed by the fact that he spoke four languages. Soon he will speak Italian as well. It’s a demonstration of his maturity.
At first Ajax wanted to keep him and build a team around him. Even the new coach was opposed to his sale. However, the board thought that the deal was too good to pass up. They accepted the transfer bid and revealed it to the fans so they could understand that they had bought him for cheap and were now selling him for a significant profit.
Milik was convinced to join Napoli, not by any fancy cars or houses, but by the idea that the club could afford him a great opportunity for growth and by the affection the fans have for the club. I’ve haven’t seen football played in every corner of the globe but I’ve never seen devotion comparable to that of Napoli supporters for their club. It’s like a religion. At the same time, names like Mertens, Insigne, Callejon and Hamsik speak for themselves. Of course the stadium and locker room aren’t the most modern but there is a wonderful team and year after year they will continue to achieve new heights.
Milik simply wants to be Milik. Maradona is the icon in Napoli and it would be nice if Arek could one day help write his own chapter in the history of the club. Nobody expects him to become like Diego; but one day I would like if, hanging in a fan’s room, under a Maradona shirt, there was a Milik one as well.

Reina, Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Strinic, Zielinski, Jorginho, Hamsik, Callejon, Gabbiadini, Insigne
