There's no doubt that this was a well-planned and well-executed operation by the Ukrainians. It's a black day for Russia's strategic aviation. At least four strat bombers will likely not return to service until the end of the SMO; they take forever to be repaired, if they even can be repaired (though I assume so, the Tu-95 is a hardy beast). That sucks. Is it a catastrophe that will cripple the Russian air campaign? It is not.
Two of the attacks failed, one air base was successfully protected by EW and AD, another truck full of drones blew up before reaching its target. The enemy is not omnipotent, we are not helpless against his attacks, we just have to git gud.
The enemy also made a mistake, by doing this not as a pure military operation, but a military-political one -- the day before the next round of negotiations. Someone told them that this would improve their position and soften up the Russian government. The opposite will be the case, of course.
In any case, bombs will continue flying, missiles and drones will keep hitting targets, and, oh well, the Emperor has countless war-machines at his disposal, nobody's running out of anything.
The war will continue to be fought and won by infantry. If strategic aviation could win modern wars, we would have won three years ago and the US wouldn't have run from the Red Sea.
