I can't wrap my head around why KeyTV is producing this event. They struggled with Nanyang a lot and so far the only production team that could really show that they can run a Dota event in the region is the Mineski Event Team who salvaged Major Allstars in a wonderful fashion.
The current level of production (read only studio stuff, group stage) isn't rocket science. Kpoptosis and Icelement are both there who could easily run a 2man show which provides the same value as the current one but for reasons unknown to me the same issues still persist. Hell, our shitty captains draft had a better production and that was all solo.
While a lot of people understand that issues can arise, sadly the other esports just look a lot more professional compared to Dota. We have a $3000000 tournament and can't even get basic things right. The whole scene looks like we're amateurs.
The RUHUB guys do it right. Have a dedicated production team of around 3-5 people who they bring in for every event. Those guys know each other, know the tech they need and just bring everything to the event. That's exactly how it should be done when the main language is not english.
I would love if we could do a joint venture between studios of some sorts to do the same. Any production without audience could easily be done this way. It wouldn't take a big budget and it would be very failproof. Have the "big" production team handle the live portion and we're good.
It's ridiculously frustrating watching this event. We all should talk about the crazy games MVP Phoenix delivered and how Centaur and Warlock are picked currently and instead we talk about this shit. Dota deserves a good production, the players deserve it so that we can talk about their plays and the Major deserves it because it's a god damn $3m tournament.
edit: To clarify: The production knows about issues. Kpop is there and forwarded a ton of complains from other people and me. Still, today again they use the same god awful Instant Replay layout. I just don't understand it.
