Russian special forces appear to have secured the airport outside of Kyiv; the social media rumor storm is (18 ) large transport planes have taken off and are planning to land shortly at the airport.

We have a video of what appears to be the same helicopters used in the attack on the airport refueling/rearming at a FARP in Belarus about an hour ago, probably being turned around the provide cover for the landing.

Unless the Ukrainians are massing for a counter attack, as I type this moment, the Russians will have a large airhead at the airport by tonight.

We're now more than 12 hours into the #Russian attack:
- Most significant advance in #Kherson where Russian forces have crossed Dnieper + moving towards Melitopol.
- Other offensive not so successful, including #Kharkiv, which may have been meant to cut off Donbass.

- Ukrainian army appears to be attempting to hold some "chokepoints", possibly using hit and run attacks after some cities fell
- This includes Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Starobilsk

- Hostomel attack near Kyiv shows #Russia may attempt to use air superiority to thwart Ukrainian strategy, bypass chokepoints. May work, if it forces Ukrainian army to fall back, but also risky if troops end up isolated.
- We may see far more of those in the coming 24 hours
