There are those who want to make a point VS. those who want to make a difference: decide which camp you want to be in. The UAE's Hamdan ship set sail to Gaza with enough supplies to feed the entire population of the Strip for a month or two, if managed, delivered & distributed correctly. As many Western "activists" are engaging in another round of performative acts that draw attention to themselves and do literally zero to actually help Gazans, remember that actual hard work is required to make a difference. That means coordination, radical pragmatism, working with Egypt, Israel, international agencies, and others to facilitate the flow of food and aid to desperate Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
It does not mean silly "flotillas" that are headed into a war zone, destined to be intercepted with a pre-determined outcome. Making a difference isn't about waving Palestinian flags and wearing Kuffiyahs; performative and theatrical "activism" is the last thing that Gazans care about right now. Stop giving "pro-Palestine" attention seekers what they crave: a sense of relevance through empty slogans and rhetoric.
Thank you to the UAE and all nations working tirelessly, often behind the scenes and with little fanfare, to actually make a difference.
