Dopo una settimana convulsa, con notizie di bancarotta e rumors incontrollati, riecco i finnici con un nuovo corposo update da 2 GB, include supporto al modding e altre varie cose
Sviluppo comunque all'insegna della suspence, sarà una sofferenza fino alla fine, che sia lieta o meno.

We’re back with a bang and you read it right: the latest update to Wreckfest adds an official vehicle modding support for both single and multiplayer, something that obviously many of you have requested to make Wreckfest an even more thrilling, unique experience. A recipe for awesomeness!We’re providing you all the tools you need to export your vehicle model from Autodesk 3ds Max and then set it up correctly. The provided TGA to BMAP texture compiler can be used for other modding purposes as well, not just for vehicles. Be aware that since this is the first time ever that mods are officially support by the game it’s very likely that there will be quite a few hiccups along the way to make Wreckfest a robust platform for modding. Please also note that many things will still change and there is no guarantee that your mod will not break in a future update (or every update!).
To create a new mod first you should create a folder under “mods” that will contain your mod data. You can name the folder as you wish, for example ‘mods/MikesPowerMod’, ‘mods/SamsVehiclePack’, and so on are all valid names. You can create as many mod folders as you wish, so it’s definitely a good idea to create an own folder for each mod. The mod folders should have the same structure as the game’s main data folder (so first subfolder will be ‘data’), but only contain edited or new files. After you’ve created your car, you can enable in in the in-game mod manager found in the garage and it will appear in the in-game marketplace (price can be set to 0).
More instructions can be found in the game’s ‘tools’ folder.
Things to note:

• Provided tools allow exporting car models from 3ds Max and converting them to the game’s format.
• TGA to BMAP texture compiler is also provided for texture modding.
• Use included BagEdit editor to modify car’s parts and paramaters.
• An example Wwise project and a guide for creating your own vehicle sounds can be found in tools/wreckfest_vehicle_audio_tools.zip.
• Mod cars give no rewards and are not allowed on leaderboards.
• You should not edit stuff inside the original ‘data’ folder, rather copy the files you want to edit to your mod folder.
• Multiplayer requires that server and clients have the same mods enabled (though some things like car skins are excluded as before).
• Dedicated server can also require mods by configuring mods=some_mod,other_mod.

Other changes and new stuff in the update:

• Parts no longer wear in multiplayer. As a consequence, multiplayer gives no crew experience and much less money reward.
• Multiplayer now offers “rental cars” which cost nothing but also give no rewards at all.
• You can now view server’s welcome message before joining, in the server browser. Feel free to list your required mods there.
• You can now bring your favorite car to the front of the list by clicking the star icon.
• Added lobby context menu options to show Steam profile page and open Steam chat for selected player.
• Fixed Asian 1 shadow.
• Fixed derby scoring sometimes stopping.
• Fixed incorrectly set aero drag/torque.

Non saprei, ma questo update sa di furbata, secondo me.
Il modding support fa tanto "Diamogli in mano il giocattolo in cui perdersi, così i bimbiminkia si distraggono a giocarci e per un tot di mesi non ci rompono più i coglioni, poi si vedrà"

We’re pleased to let you know that the latest update is out! In this update we’ve paid special attention to car-to-car collisions to make them more weighty and dynamic again, and now major crashes will more often result in the cars taking air or flipping over instead of just sliding around. We’ll continue to improve crashes and at this point we’d love to hear what you think; are the cars now flipping over even too easily? Do the crashes feel weighty enough? Are they too hazardous from the player’s perspective?
In the other news we’ve also improved the AI. Not only it’s quicker and more aggressive towards each other and the player but now it also reacts to being bumped into the boot by swerving around and sometimes downright losing control and crashing – how cool is that?

• Racing AI now reacts to being bumped or rammed by possibly losing control and/or spinning out.
• Added graphics setting presets Low, Medium, High and Ultra (Settings > Graphics > Presets).
• Added command line option ‘-disable_mods’ to make troubleshooting easier in case mods are preventing the game from launching properly.

Ormai non seguivo più lo sviluppo, ma Steam non perde mai d'occhio le cose, e quindi noto l'aggiornamento.

Pista nuova, molto molto bella e veloce, con incrocio a 8 mortale in un punto. Nella foresta, fondo misto asfalto sterrato.
Poi nuovi layouts per altre piste (una nuova Figura 8 pericolosa sull'ultimo ovale che avevano fatto, quello lungo e velocissimo)
E varie robette per il netcode e gli amanti del multi online.

Tutto sommato, nonostante i tempi e lo sconforto di tanti utenti (come me) lo sviluppo prosegue, i sintomi ci sono.

The update contains quite a few improvements, major and minor alike, but the main feature of the update is the new track Sandpit 3 offering high-speed racing through the forested hilly scenery, something that will probably bring back sweet memories of a certain well-known racing game of yesteryear. We love it, and we hope that you too will! In addition to Sandpit 3 the update also adds a Figure 8 layout for Speedway 8, since let’s face it – Figure 8 is like the bread and butter of demolition racing games, and those never get old.Other than that, we’ve implemented the basics of the our new, more tactical damage system. Vehicles now have chassis health and armor, the latter being visualized with the previously used sector triangles. Think of them as outer panels of the car: the better the condition of the armor the more incoming damage it absorbs, and when the armor condition drops to zero (black), all damage will go directly to lower chassis health. From now on the vehicle is only totaled when chassis health drops to zero. To help you better pick targets the health bars are also now visualized next to the player name in HUD. In future, we will extend the system so that various components such as the suspension of the car can fail.
IMPORTANT!
If the game fails to launch after updating, please launch the game with "-disable_mods" command line parameter. To do so, right click on the game name in the Steam library, click on Properties, then Set Launch Options, type -disable_mods and click OK.

I have no doubts that you guys wouldn't have understood how the previous system worked but you have to remember that the people here and on the Steam forum represent only a small fraction of our game's audience. Also 'not understanding' was probably a bad choice of words in retrospect when I meant engaging and well, tangible for the lack of better words. You're free to consider us sellouts but we really want to make the game more approachable and engaging also for those that only want to pickup the controller and play. It might mean implementing a health bar but it doesn't necessarily mean that we have to simplify the underlying gameplay systems radically, we really just need to design them in such a way that whatever happens on the screen makes sense even if you don't know all the little details on how the damage is calculated. All I ask is not to give up just yet, the system you currently have in the public build is far from perfect and we know that.

Ormai seguo più che altro per principio, ma loro procedono. Ultimo update a fine luglio, a un mese dal precedente. L'ho scoperto solo ieri entrando a curiosare nel forum.

Here we go – the latest update for Wreckfest is out!As always the update contains a host of important fixes and improvements based on the feedback we’re received, but without any doubt the highlights of this update are the new Mixed 3 track as well as badass folk-racing inspired version of the European 3 car, as pictured in the title image. Being a low-tier beater version of European 3 car, this new car offers you a first glimpse of how the career of the game will work, with players starting from the bottom and working their way up to better events with better cars.
Other than that we’ve made an effort to improve the new health system so it should make more sense and support the type of gameplay we want to encourage. We’ve also improved all cars by tweaking the suspension setups, fixing some of the aerodynamic properties, improving gear shift logic as well as tuning the driving assists, and as a result the actual business of racing should feel better no matter what your skill level. And finally, modders now have an ability to finetune AI routes as well as view trackside cameras.

• Added a new work-in-progress track, Mixed 3.
• Added a folk-racing variant of European 3.
• It now requires heavy hits to cause any damage to the chassis in case the body panels are almost or fully intact.
• Low to moderate jumps no longer cause damage to the chassis health on landing unless chassis is in critical condition.

• Improved shifting logic for automatic gearbox.
• It’s now possible to skip gears when downshifting (i.e. shift directly from 3rd to 1st, for example).
• Improved Stability and Traction Control assists to make them more useable.
• Exposed developer track data and trackside camera visualization, racing line adjust tool, and free camera for modded tracks. Use the tilde key ~ (the key below ESC that resembles a squiggly worm) to access the developer menu and F11 to enable free camera.
• Added an ability to set effects to panel release and unlocking (not used for official cars just yet).
• Fixed buggy checkpoints on Speedway 1 and Tarmac 2.
• Improved AI routes on a number of tracks.
• Fixed rough geometry in the Sandpit 3 intersection causing cars to flip.

CONTENT:
Added a new track designed for rough racing and epic crashes: Crash Canyon - fans of our earlier games will surely recognize the inspiration.
Added a new work-in-progress track, Mixed 7.
Replaced the garage with a new, more spacious garage, still work-in-progress though.
Implemented vehicle visual customization with parts such as wheels, bumpers, grilles and many more. Please note that for now visual parts do not have a gameplay effect, but in future, parts will affect the weight of the car and increase or decrease the strength of the car as well as the damage it causes to the opposing party in collisions. For now, parts are only available for American 5 and to some extent, American 3, but all cars will eventually receive them. If you have any suggestions for parts you'd like to be added please let us know!
Added more performance parts: engines, pistons, valves, camshafts and so on, to allow for more in-depth performance upgrading in the upcoming career. Note that engines are basically per class now, however, installing the best available parts will allow the engine jump to the beginning of the next class. In case the car has a separate banger variant, not all engines are available for all variants.
Improved American 3, European 2, European 3 (II), Asian 1 models and gave them a demolition racer makeover.
Added new skins for many vehicles and removed some older ones.

ART:
Replaced the user interface with a completely new, more modern one that's actually usable with a gamepad as well. Please note that the new user interface is still heavy being worked on, and for example animations are missing, the art is not final and there are temporary placeholders screens that will be replaced completely. Feedback is still very much appreciated already.
Replaced the old broken Sandpit 1 with a new, completely overhauled version.
Overhauled Tarmac 1 to open up the environment, add proper runoff areas and generally make it look more like a real race track.
Improved the environment art of Tarmac 3.
Speedway 1 Figure 8 layout now has ramps in the inner areas to allow for getting back on track even when reset is disabled by the host.
Improved low frequency ambient occlusion.
Added animated track officials.
Updated tire effects.
Updated weathers.

DESIGN/PHYSICS:
Increased the performance range of the cars and adjusted the class cutoff points. For now, the classes and class ranges are as follows:
Class C = < PP180
Class B = PP180 - PP260
Class A = PP260 >
Removed part wear and repair mechanic.
Removed crew mechanic.
Improved AI vehicle setups so that they make a better use of brakes now, making AI more challenging.
Crash landings (where the car would be rocketed in the air when touching ground after a jump) no longer occur.
Adjusted gearboxes and improved shifting logic to allow for more natural automatic shifting.
Improved stability control assist.
Improved force feedback for steering wheels.
In Elimination Race, maximum elimination interval is now 120 seconds.
It's now possible to select assists in the pre-race screen without going back to the garage.

TECHNICAL:
Optimized tire physics, reducing CPU load.
Improved acceleration estimation in the garage front-end.
Ragdoll now works properly.
Added clutter fade for grass.

KNOWN ISSUES:
Clutter shadows are not working.
Leaderboards are disabled for now.
The backfire effect of the exhaust remains in the original location even when the exhaust is changed.
Location and track preview images are placeholders and descriptions are mostly missing.
AI sometimes rams other cars right after the green light when trying to navigate to the proper racing line.
In extremely rough landings (like after a crash) one or more wheels of the car may clip below the ground.

NOTES FOR CONTENT CREATORS:
Some basic vehicle model visualization is now available for custom vehicles in the developer menu (opened by using the tilde key).
Custom tracks using textures from our official tracks will have textures missing due to asset restructuring.
To make a custom track compatible with the dedicated server it will need to have the new event db files created (check the updated example track)
Custom vehicles will need to have new tire files as well dummy parts for the new performance and visual parts assigned (check the updated example car).

alla luce degli ultimi aggiornamenti l'ho riprovato e... meeeehhhh

ero curioso di vedere quanto tempo era passato... l'ho acquistato in data 22 dicembre 2013.

le prime versioni, seppur alpha me le ricordo belle divertenti, grafica bella e fluide, tanto che ne ero molto entusiasto.

dopo un annetto cominciarono a fare casino mettendo mano alla fisica, aggiungendo parti di elaborazione inutili mai portate avanti.... qualche pista lasciata a mezzo...

boh ero curioso e l'ho riscaricato. a me sembra non sia cambiato nulla di che. ho fatto un paio di gare e un demolition derby, e chiuso dallo schifo.

1 - se all'inizio me lo godevo parecchio, ora lagga da far schifo pure con le ombre al minimo. nel frattempo ho pure aggornato il pc tra parentesi.
la cosa sarebbe giustificata se la grafica fosse ad altissimi livelli, ma mi sembra faccia abbastanza pena rispetto pure alle prime versioni. plasticosa e troppo satura per i miei gusti. senza post processing, che spero venga implementato, il risultato finale mi dà quella sensazione di amatoriale... brutto brutto...

2 - la fisica... sempre la solita. anche su questo aspetto preferivo le prime versioni più permissive ma più "di effetto". non si ha più la stessa sensazione di sfondare gli avversari, non so bene come spiegarla a parole... è come se fosse tutto più soft immerso nella melassa.

3 - quanto detto sopra probabilmente è anche legato al comparto audio che sinceramente mi ha lasciato basito. Giocare con l'audio a palla per me è un piacere avendo delle buone casse... wreckfest da questo punto di vista è abbastanza penoso... percepisco tutto piatto e "ovattato"

4 - 3 anni e ancora non sono riusciti a offrire mezzo menù decente, seppur provvisorio

Se ripenso a come era all'inizio ed a come è adesso verrebbe da chiedersi che minchia hanno fatto in tutto questo tempo, a parte apportare peggioramenti costanti

ormai aspetterò la versione finale se è vero che verrà rilasciata... ma sinceramente non mi aspetto nulla di buono, e ciò mi fa inca**are viste le premesse e il potenziale e il fatto che gli detti 30 euro sulla fiducia dopo essermi divertito con flatout.

Ultima nota da ribadire. minchia che serietà! concordo sul non percorrere la stessa strada dei vecchi titoli e dare al nuovo prodotto un aspetto più realistico e reale, ma l'atmosfera che si respira del gioco dovrebbe comunque richiamare alle tipiche manifestazioni americane piene di redneck birra e carne alla griglia.... non c'è niente di esaltante nemmeno a livello a figurativo/audio. sembra che stiano cercando un approccio da formula 1 per un titolo del genere. cazzate immane!

Sono d'accordo con te anche io lo comprai subito con grande entusiasmo, poi lo ho visto sempre peggiorare fino ad arrivare ai livelli assurdi della versione precedente dove le auto non sterzavano neppure più ! Con l'ultima versione è ritornato un minimo giocabile, ma indubbiamente stanno improvvisando senza avere un progetto preciso.

During this year, the game has taken some significant steps towards the final release, and this is largely thanks to you. Your enthusiastic feedback has enabled us to shape the game to what it is currently, and while sometimes opinions might differ, nothing is more rewarding for the developer than to see how much players care about your game.

In the major December Update earlier this month we introduced brand new features high on everyone’s wish list, like the preview of the upcoming career mode, paint customization, mechanical damage and rivals, as well as major content updates like eight brand new cars and polished tracks, not to forget performance optimization and numerous tweaks to make the game more enjoyable. Judging by the feedback we’ve received you have been enjoying the game more than ever, and it’s not surprising since the game is finally beginning to feel like a real game – even we’ve been excited by it!

We’ll now take a short holiday break to spend some time with our families (and of course race you online!) but surely enough, next year will be even more exciting for all of us with awesome things lined up for the game, like expanded career with special challenge events and even more new cars to name just a few. We can’t wait to share all that with you!

l'idea iniziale del gioco è carina, corse verosimili in stile demolition, con grafica fantastica.

vedremo come sarà alla fine, ma c'è il rischio che dirottino tutto su un super arcade.

bella sorpresa! torno a casa dopo 2 mesi di lavoro all'estero e vedo che steam aggiorna wreckfest.
non ci ho fatto troppo caso ma dopo qualche giorno ho notato che era cambiato nome nella libreria, provo a giocarci.... alla grande finalmente.

ok è sempre in beta ma ha fatto passi da gigante dall'ultima volta in cui lo davo per progetto andato in malora. consiglio a tutti di farci una partita o due.
ha ritrovato il feeling delle prime release.
